Gaming company Da Ma Cai sponsored a delegation led by Inspector-General of Police Mohamad Fuzi Harun on a working trip to Turkey, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng said today, following online pictures showing participants sightseeing and dining in Istanbul.

Lim said his ministry had not paid for the trip, although Home Minister Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday said it was funded by the Malaysian Totalisator Board, a statutory board under the Ministry of Finance.

“The funding is not from the finance ministry. The source of funding is Da Ma Cai, a number forecasting company, so they didn’t get a sen from us,” he told reporters in Putrajaya today.

It was reported that the delegation was in Turkey to learn about policing online gambling.

Yesterday, Sarawak Report published pictures of Fuzi and senior police officers on their trip.

The whistleblower site said 16 senior officers had joined the trip, spending over of RM300,000 on business class flights and five-star hotel accommodation.
