Be careful when going to Australia, Nazri tell Malaysians

Kuala Lumpur is not the only city in the world to face terror threats, says Tourism Minister

Many other countries, including Australia, face terror threats too, said Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz today.

Responding to the Australian government’s recent warning to its citizens about possible terror attacks in “locations frequented by Westerners” in Kuala Lumpur, Nazri said KL was not the only city to face such a threat.

“Paris, London, Frankfurt too, received terror threats. In Australia, the threat is even bigger.

“So to me, it is not a problem that Australia has warned its citizens. We too remind our citizens to be careful when going to Australia due to their terror threats and instances of racism displayed there,” he told a media conference at the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside here today.

When asked on the possibility of the threats affecting the country’s tourism industry, the Padang Rengas MP expressed his confidence that Malaysia will continue to attract tourists.

Australia’s warning comes after the British government raised the terror threat level for tourist destinations in Sabah, from general to high, last week.
