Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob urged consumers to be “colour blind” and support the new IT mall, which was operated by bumiputras.
He said the mall was set up in line with Majlis Amanah Rakyat’s (Mara’s) objective of assisting bumiputra ventures.
“There are some nine million handphones in the country and most of the retailers are non-bumiputras,” said Ismail.
“We don’t want the bumiputras to be left behind.”
He said Malays were colour blind when they shopped.
“They don’t look at race when they choose and I hope others will patronise this mall and support it,” Ismail said at yesterday’s opening.
He cited the Low Yat Plaza in Kuala Lumpur as an example, saying that 98% of the IT retailers there were non-bumiputras while 70% of their customers were Malays.
