Well, a Facebook user by the name of Jonathan Bong posted a receipt of his meal at Nasi Kandar Kayu. It cost a total of RM312.10.
"Folks beware. RM 60 for 1 piece of sotong. RM 26 for a small plate of mutton curry (ordered 2). Don't ever go there. Just because I had some foreigners with me, got ripped off. Last time ever."

According to Bong, he was charged RM60 for a piece of squid, RM26 per plate of mutton curry and RM6 per plate of plain briyani rice. He believes he was ripped off as he had four foreigners with him.
This is not the first time Nasi Kandar Kayu is deemed expensive. Reviews, including those on Tripadvisor, have complained of its high prices.

In fact, more nasi kandar shops in the Klang Valley are starting to get a reputation for charging exorbitant prices.

Gone are the days when you could confidently walk into a nasi kandar restaurant with just RM10 in your pocket. According to nasi kandar fans in the Klang Valley, prices have recently gone up to unexpected levels.
“The new prices are in fact ridiculous,” lift technician R Narasimna Rao, 31, told FMT.
“I used to enjoy a nasi kandar meal for just RM5. The other day I took rice, mutton and some vegetables and the bill came to RM14.” After that experience Narasimna has been avoiding nasi kandar outlets. “It’s just too expensive,” he said.
